White Branch, all day; LEGO Day. LEGOs will be available in the children’s area all
day. Come in and see what you can make!
Betts Branch, 2pm; Wii with Jen – Test your skills and play a game of Wii against Jen
and Maddie.
Paine Branch, 2pm; For Teens: Movie Matinee – “Guardians of the Galaxy”
A group of interstellar outlaws team up to save the galaxy from a villain who seeks
ultimate power in this comic book space adventure from Marvel Studios. Popcorn
provided. Rated PG-13
Petit Branch, 2:30pm; Reading, Book Talk, and Signing with Local Teen Author, Ema
Furuya. Local teen author, Ema Furuya will share her children’s book, The Dream
Eater’s Balloons. The story is about a mythical creature known as a “Dream-eater” or
a “Baku” in Japanese with a moral about teamwork. Furuya will be giving a reading,
followed by a talk on her process of creating the book from a concept to a finished
story with accompanying pictures. She will also speak about her experience publishing
creative work as a young author. This event is open to children who might enjoy
hearing an author read them a picture-book story as well as to teenagers and aspiring
authors of all ages curious to learn from a published author’s process. Signed copies
of the book will be available for purchase. Info: 435-3636.
Beauchamp Branch, 3pm – 4:30pm; Black History Jeopardy – Test your knowledge
of Black history with a game of Black History Jeopardy. Make sure to get your study
guides for jeopardy. We’ll test your knowledge of prominent figures and important
events in Black history. Prizes for our winners!
Hazard Branch, 2:30pm; STEM Mystery Bag Challenge. Grab a tool bag at the library
and start having fun! Each bag has everything you need to design and build a Pom
Pom Cannon, Marble Run or Paperclip Sailboat. For ages 5 – 12.
