Tuesday, February 16th:
Betts Branch, 10am – Noon; Book Discussion – “At the Water’s Edge” a profound
examination of the effects of war on ordinary women and a compelling portrait of
female friendship.
Central Library, 11am – Noon; Drop-In Craft: Paper Dragons. Visit Children’s World to

Beauchamp Branch, 2pm – 4pm; Family Movie. “From the Rough” – Enjoy the story
of Dr. Catena Starks, the 1st African-American woman to coach a men’s college golf
Betts Branch, 2pm – 4pm; Wii with Jen. Drop in with your friends to play Wii.
Paine Branch, 3pm – 4pm; Kids Create: The White House. Learn some facts about
one of America’s most famous buildings. Then make your own pop-out artwork of the

Beauchamp Branch, 5pm – 7:30pm; Board Game Fun. Learn to play Mancala, a
traditional African board game, or play one of your favorite board games with your

Wednesday, February 17th:
Beauchamp Branch, 9:30am – 11am; Preschool Play & Learn. Kids through 5 years
can come and play with our educational toys & sensory materials as well as make new

Paine Branch, 10am; Read, Sing, Play Storytime. Full of fun learning activities that
engage your child in the 5 early literacy practices so necessary for school readiness.
Children listen and interact with stories, sing songs, rhyme, play learning games, and
sometimes complete a craft or other activity. Best for ages 2 – 5. (315)435-5442
Beauchamp Branch, 2pm – 3pm; Black History Scavenger Hunt. Keep your eyes on
the prize and find the answer to the clues. (315)435-3395
Betts Branch, 2pm – 3pm; Calling all Builders. Bring your Legos to the library and
build, build, build. Consult with other “architects”. A limited number of Legos &
Duplos from the library will be available to work with. (315)435-1940
Betts Branch, 6pm – 7pm; Knitting for Beginners with Maggie. Learn the basics of
knit, purl, cast on, cast off, increase & decrease. Make a simple project scarf. Yarn will
be provided. Please bring your own size 10 needles. Pre-register at (315)435-1940.
Central Library, 2pm – 3:30pm; Make a President Puppet – Celebrate Presidents’ Day
and make your very own President puppet.
Hazard Branch, 2:30pm; Marble Painting – Learn a new technique using marbles, as
this fun activity lets you create an original painting to take home! Ages 5 – 12.
Thursday, February 18th:
Paine Branch, 11am – Noon; Make Some Flakes. Celebrate winter with a snowflake

Betts Branch, 2pm; Family Movie Time – “Ant-Man” Come see this newly released
adventure based on the Marvel Comics character. Popcorn provided. Rated PG-13.
Beauchamp Branch, 2pm -4pm; Cooking Up Literacy – The National Award winning
program returns with a special black history month edition. Join us to make a tasty

Friday, February 19th:
Paine Branch, 2pm – 3pm; K’Nex Amusement Park Creation. Enjoy a fun time creating
a roller coaster, Ferris wheel or other amusement park ride. Participants will
work collaboratively in teams to build one of 13 different structures. No registration

civil rights songs with your friends. Don’t know any? That’s OK, we’ll have some

Paine Branch, 2pm – 3pm; Kindred Kingdom. Come and witness a 1 hour presentation
which compares and contrasts Birds of Prey, with live bird demonstration at the
Central Library, 3pm – 4pm; Fun with 3D Doodler Pens. Get creative with 3D Doodler
Pens! Ages 6-10; Registration is required at (315)435-1900.
Beauchamp Branch, 2pm – 3pm; Black History Jeopardy. A special version of the
